One of the Whitsunday’s biggest festivals is just about upon us again, and set to bring the Whitsunday Coast alive!
The Whitsunday Reef Festival is a 4 day festival that draws flocks of visitors to Airlie Beach and the Whitsunday Islands for fun, entertainment and of course like any festival, fireworks, adding a splash of colour and comedy to the Whitsunday region.
The Whitsunday reef Festival offers something for your and old, from sand sculpture contests on Airlie Beach, to the Comedy Gala and even starlight movies.
Some of the major events this year at the Whitsunday Reef Festival include the Porters Friday Night Fireworks down on the Airlie foreshore, and the popular Rotary Street Parade, where the entire community comes together to participate, giving the local business community the chance to show off and promote their businesses.
First created back in 2001, the Whitsunday Reef Festival has since been an annual event, which just keeps getting bigger and more popular every year.
The main events at the Whitsunday Reef Festival kick off on the 15th August with the Comedy Gala from 7pm, and then the popular street party all day the next day, followed by the Fireworks on the foreshore and Airlie Beach Carpark the same evening.
Don’t miss the Frocktails, the premier Whitsundays fashion event at Waters Edge Resort on Friday Night (16th August)
The Main Street Party continues on Saturday, as well as the Rotary Street Parade, with the grande finale, the Whitsunday Family Fun Day on Sunday from 10am until 2pm.
So if you are heading to the Whitsundays and Airlie Beach on August, make sure you get along to the Whitsunday Reef Festival and enjoy the fun and festivities!
