While the airport is primarily used for passenger domestic jet services, the airport also caters for private jets and helicopters, particularly for guests that are looking for a scenic flight over the Whitsunday Islands, and particularly Whitehaven Beach and Hayman Island, and of course the Great Barrier Reef.
The Hamilton Island Airport is located south of the main Marina and is a quick 5 to 10 minute drive from the main accommodation area of Hamilton Island or Front Street shopping precinct.

While the airport offers multiple check-in desks for Jetstar, Virgin Australia and Qantas passengers, please note that in peak holiday time these can get congested and it is best to allow plenty of time for both check-in as well as picking up baggage.
Getting to and from resorts from the Hamilton Island Airport
The Hamilton Island Airport is located just a few minutes from many of the main resorts, holiday houses and Hamilton Island Whitsunday apartments, and regular shuttle bus services are available for both pick-up and return to and from your accommodation for the Airport.
For guests staying in their Whitsunday apartments, it is best to contact your reservations desk prior to departure to find out when the next available bus or shuttle will be, but these usually run very regularly during the day.

Hamilton Island Airport’s check-in counters can be found at the western end of the Airport terminal and it is recommended to allow plenty of time to check-in as this can differ depending on your airline carrier as to when closing time is. Also allow for the usual airport security check points as you pass through for departure.
